Continuing my conversation with Jeffrey Zeldman. Among other things, Jeffrey talks about how accessibility needs to be baked in from the very start, and how retrofitting accessibility into a project just doesn’t work.
This week, I had the luck and great pleasure to talk with Jeffrey Zeldman, who probably needs no introduction but who refers to himself as a “web designer who’s been interested in inclusive design for a very long time.
In the second part of my conversation with Carie Fisher, she expresses that one of her frustrations with web accessibility is that people haven’t “quite adapted to the idea of web accessibility”. She also says that as a community, we all have an important role to play, whether we are newcomers to accessibility or have been doing web accessibility longer than some newcomers have been alive!

Billy Gregory, who works with The Paciello Group as Director of Training, talks to us about accessibility, and, among other things, tells us that we shouldn’t worry about accessibility laws or regulations. Instead, we should worry about whether or not people can stay in touch and do all the same things that we can do.
Continuing the conversation with Makoto Ueki. This week we talk about certification and accessibility conferences. Makoto tells us that the greatest challenge for accessibility going forward is that WCAG 2.0 is incredibly difficult to understand.

One of the things that many people talk about is the idea that the word “accessibility” is passé. Arthur doesnt’necessarily agree. He thinks that changing the word to describe what we do won’t fix anything, it’ll create the same stresses we’re finding now.
